Butterick 6621 View C Navy Stripe Mock Wrap Knit Dress

I think this may have been my first time ever making all the versions of one pattern!  Go Me!

I like the idea of the mock wrap skirt of View C on the Butterick 6621.  Of course the stripe fabric makes the dress look very nautical and summery.

Too bad it didn't look good on me............I looked like I had on a jail uniform!  But Girl M loved it and it looked much better on her!

I had a cotton/rayon/lycra jersey knit stripe fabric that looked almost like the pattern cover.

Butterick 6621 View B Black Crepe Knit Tie Front Dress

I moved onto View B of the Butterick 6621 in a Black Crepe Knit fabric from my stash.  I really like the classy look of this dress. I only had to make a few minor alterations to the pattern.  I lengthened the dress 1", raised the ties 1-1/2" at the waist, I didn't use the neckband and just zig-zag stitched clear elastic then turned and topstitched both the neckline and the armscye.

Still nowhere to wear a dress to.  Soon enough I'm just going to get up every morning, put on make-up, fix my hair and put on a pretty dress!  Probably not!

Butterick 6621 View A Twist Front Knit Dress

I'm not sure why I'm on a roll to make dresses when I'm not able to go ANYWHERE?!?  But I plan on being prepared!

I liked ALL the versions of the Butterick 6621 so I just started with View A.

Butterick 6621

Butterick 6621

I cut a size 16 at the bust, 18 at the waist and 20 for the hips.  I made a 1/2" sway back adjustment prior to cutting out my fabric.  I used a cotton knit fabric in my stash that had a medium amount of stretch.

I ended up taking in from the waist thru the hips making the pattern a true size 16 in the end.  I still think I'm bigger than I am.  I made one long and one short sleeve for testing.  The long sleeve was tight below my bicep to my wrist??? So I cut it off to make a short sleeve.  Easy fix!

Two different sleeves!

Fixable Wearable muslin

This is a wearable muslin, and I may make a Church version but I'm thinking of making a View B first.

McCall's 7803 Prussian Blue Raglan Sleeve Knot Front Peplum Double Knit Dress

For some reason the McCall's 7803 pattern has been on my mind.  I had a piece of Prussian Blue Poly/Lycra Honeycomb Dot Double Knit fabric in my stash from FabricMartFabrics.com that I thought would be a perfect match.

I decided on the dress version with the peplum.  Girl M. said this dress has A LOT going on!

It's very comfortable and hides all my lumps & bumps yet looks very figure flattering.

Like the top versions I made previously, I raised the split 2" for a little modesty.

I love this dress and can't wait to be able to wear it to Church, out to dinner, somewhere!

McCall's 6473 Chevron Scrub Top Love Notions Duet Knit Trouser Scrub Pants

Another Scrub top & pants for Girl M.  McCall's 6473 scrub top and the Love Notions Pattern Duet Trousers for the pants.

For the Scrub Top I made the neck band from the same  ponte knit fabric as the pants.  I couldn't get the chevron design on the band to look decent.

I made the Love Notions Duet Trousers from a Rayon/Nylon/Lycra Ponte knit fabric from my stash.  These pants are heavy!  They should be warm in the cooler months but Girl M said she wouldn't wear them on shower days at the Nursing Home!

Girl M. liked her new uniform (outfit).  She always gets compliments at work on her scrubs.  I just want her to look pretty & be comfortable.

Love Notions Pattern Sunday Romper Dress Tester

I was picked to test the Love Notions Sunday Romper pattern at the end of May.  (Sorry to take so long to post about it)  I have never been a pattern tester before and I thought that it was a fun learning experience.  I don't wear shorts, wear pants on minimal occasion but I do wear dresses so the short dress caught my attention.

My first test version was awful.  I'm not sure if it was the pattern or the fabric I chose.  I tried it on, Girl M tried it on.........no photos were taken.  I think I was ashamed of my sewing.  Nothing went right, The dress looked horrible.  I was so afraid to review it that I waited for an amended version and tried again.

Ladies Sunday Romper

Introducing the Sunday Romper that everyone can wear. The front and back v-neck openings allow for easy on and off. Front angled pockets are super practical and look great! An elasticated casing at the natural waist makes this easy to fit and wear. Choose from a tank or dolman bodice. Five bottom options include 5″ shorts, cropped pants, full length pants, maxi skirt and knee length skirt. This romper is meant for knit fabrics.
  • 0-32
  • Meant for knit fabrics
  • Full Bust pattern pieces if needed
  • Dolman & tank bodice options
  • Three lengths for pants- shorts, cropped & full length
  • Two length options- knee & full length
This version was much better than the first one.  Still not thrilled but ok.  It will make a good "house dress" to wear at home.  I used a thin jersey knit fabric that maybe was a little too thin but a wearable muslin.

The skirt length is good (Look at those knees!)

The sleeves fit!

Neckband fit in perfect

Elastic waist

Love Notions Sunday Romper Dress
I think I could go down a size for the bodice and lengthen the bodice an 1" or so for more blousson over the elastic waist.

I like that the skirt has pockets.  The fabric is almost tissue thin so the pockets don't lay decent.

Pockets
Overall the pattern is ok.  I'm thinking of maybe trying either the maxi dress version or the pants romper one.

I did enter my photos into Love Notions Patterns Testing review even though I wasn't thrilled with this version but time was ending and I didn't feel like making another version too soon.  But I will try one of the others soon.

Until next time.................

Simplicity 9626 Black White Floral Print Skirt & McCall 7975 Crepe Knit Twist Top

VivmomSews from YouTube inspired with her black & white floral print skirt.  Wouldn't you know that I had purchased the same fabric from FabricMartFabrics.com.  Yeah me!

Searching through my pattern stash for a full or half circle skirt I came up with this vintage Simplicity 9626 half circle skirt pattern I had.  I omitted the side zipper and added 1-1/2" elastic to the waistband.  Easy sew!

Simplicity 9626

Simplicity 9626
The fabric is a fabric panel that I removed the stripe portion and made the skirt from just the floral part.  I then sewed the 8" stripe border portion back onto to bottom of the skirt.  The fabric was a double border floral print crepe knit that sewed up beautifully.

I needed a top to wear with my new skirt.  The McCall's 7975 twist top came to mind and the crepe ITY knit fabric was a perfect match.

I used a fold-over elastic at the neckline and made elbow length sleeves.

I am in LOVE with this outfit!  I can't wait to wear it to Church soon!

Ellie & Mac Paperbag Waist Skirt

Girl M. saw this pattern and immediately guilted me into purchasing it and sewing it up for her.  It was an easy sew and she loved the skirt.  It's so cute and I wished I could wear this style.

Love Notions Rhapsody Blouse Dog Print

I just had to sneak in another Love Notions Rhapsody Blouse from a small piece of fabric I had in my stash.  This poly blouse weight  fabric has the cutest little Basset hounds all over it.  I just eeked out all the pattern pieces and hoped I didn't make any mistakes because there was no fabric left over!

Simplicity 8841 The Perfect Pants

I had to make up another pair of the Simplicity 8841 pants.........well..............actually I made two pair.  Same pattern, two different looks.

I used a dark blue/teal check suiting fabric for the crop pants.  The same day I received an Isaac Mizrahi sweater I purchased from Ebay.  It looked very nice with my new crop pants.  Win-Win!
