Love Notions Constellation Jacket

I am BLESSED with that I get to spend a lot of time with Grandbaby Adaline. So sewing has been very sparse.  I try to plan patterns based on ease and how quickly I can sew them up.  I know Florida is still very warm but wishing for cooler weather so I made Girl M & myself a Love Notions Constellation Jacket.  I had planned on gifting Girl M hers for Christmas but she saw it and away it went!

Love Notion Coda Coat

My Mother in Law thrifted a bedcover for me for a test run of the Love Notions Coda Coat.  The pattern is an easy sew with very few pattern pieces. Front, back & sleeve.  I used bias binding from my stash.  I need to make a few fitting adjustments to the pattern since it was a bit too boxy for my liking.  The fabric was a bit stiff too.

The blue bias binding makes the coat look a bit homemade so a toned down version may work better.

I’m off to sew more….

Until next time….

Pattern Emporium Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top

I knew the Pattern Emporium Balloon Sleeve top would become a favorite with me.  I love that it is a quick sew but very generous in sizing I could always slim/fit a bit more to my liking.

Two more tops for the hanger. I think I may try a dress version in the future.

Happy Sewing…until next time.

Itch to Stitch Islares Top

I love a raglan sleeve top and the Itch to Stitch Islares Top had a square neckline and I HAD to sew it up! It’s a great pattern. Few pattern pieces & a quick sew.

My measurements had me at a size 12 bust and 16 hips.  I used a cotton/jersey knit fabric from my usual FabricMart Fabrics I purchased sometime in the past.

I need to work on finding styles that enhance my shoulders more. They are slim & down slanted.

Happy sewing & Until next time

Pattern Emporium Be Mine Balloon Sleeve Top

I wasn’t sure that the Pattern Emporium Be Mine Balloon Sleeve top was my style but I gave it a shot anyways.  It’s an easy pattern to sew and very generous in the sizing.

I liked this fabric panel yardage I had in my stash from FabricMart Fabrics.  I had to gotten the sleeves by 4” to keep within the panel stripe area.

The second version I lengthened the bodice front and back 1”, used the full length sleeve and ended up removing 2” from the side seams of the bodice.  I feel that the top swallows me.  But it is very comfortable and I think I’ll wear it.

I’m off to sew something new!

Until next time…Happy sewing!

Hello...........October............Life & Sewing

Hello Dear Sewing Friends!
I know I'm been MIA the past few months.  Sewing was happening....slowly & Life was happening very fast!  Time gets away from you quickly. Some days there just isn't enough time in the day. I really need to work on my time management more.

Dear Hubby & I took a trip of a lifetime to Vancouver, BC then a cruise to ALASKA!  It was wonderful!  It was a trip of first.  First time flying in an airplane, First time renting a car & an AirB&B, First time visiting to another country, First time Cruising and First time to Alaska.  It was a lot in 11 days and we enjoyed it very much.

Trip of Firsts!

I sewed a few items for the trip.  Basics mostly since we only used a carry on suitcase.  Black long sleeve t-shirt & black short sleeve t-shirt.  Black ponte knit pants and a hot pink long sleeve t-shirt.  Pretty boring but much needed wardrobe basics for a mini capsule wardrobe.

I also sewed Dear Hubby the Love Notions Pattern Constellation 1/2 zip Jacket.  AND he liked it so much he brought it for the trip!  I sewed it from a Black Ponte Knit fabric from my stash from FabricMart Fabrics.

Our sweet granddaughter is 5 months old!  She has her first tooth and her smile just makes my day!  Boy F & Lady K are due the 12th of December with our first Grandson!

Happy Sewing & Until next time!

Simplicity 8640 Purple Floral Linen Dress

Another great sewing make.  I really like this Simplicity 8640 pattern. Minimal seams, quick sew & flattering. I used a linen fabric from my stash.

I am thinking I need a black linen version!

Love Notions Sonata Dress

Another great pattern by Love Notions with a million possibilities!

I had to lengthen the bodice 2” and lower the bust dart 2”.  But overall this pattern was a great sew. I did not add pockets since my fabric choice was a bit stiff.

Designer Stitch Beth Dress

I watched a few episodes of Yellowstone and I'm probably the minority of not really liking the show.  But when Designer Stitch put out a pattern test for their new Beth dress, I was in love! Unfortunately I had been so busy with "other" life events that I was unable to pattern test the dress and had to wait for the Beth dress pattern release.

Woven fabrics are not as forgiving as sewing with knit fabrics but after 4 muslins I was happy with my pattern adjustments.  I used a floral print challis fabric from Fabric Mart Fabrics I purchased earlier this year.  Next time I may consider using a fabric with a little more structure than the challis.  Medium weight woven .

I love the sleeves.  The shirring just gives the dress a little something.

Love Notions Pattern-Laundry Day Tee-Nursing Nightgown

A Momma's got to sew for her soon to be Mom!  A nursing nightgown was the request of the day.  I started with the Laundry Day Tee, lengthened it to knee length, added short sleeves and a hidden panel folded in for a nursing hack.

McCall's 7976 Nursing Gown

When Girl M sends me a photo of something she likes I try to sew it up for her!  She sent me this nightgown from Amazon and I knew I had a pattern that I could hack.

Inspiration

McCall 7976

I used View C and lengthened the top 21" to make it knee length.  I only had the Large/XL size so I had to size down for her. I made it out of a jersey knit fabric from my stash.  I think she'll have plenty of room & will be very comfortable.

I added and elastic band and a plastic container to my dressform to make a pregnant version.  Cracks me up!

Ellie & Mac Gathered Tankini Swim Top

Living in Florida & having a pool swimwear is a must!  Being very self-conscious about modesty is hard with swimwear.  But the Ellie & Mac Gathered Tankini Swim Top was a possibility.  I sewed up a wearable muslin and overall was happy with the results.

Ellie & Mac Gathered Tankini Swim Top

Since I was on a roll, I tried the Ellie & Mac High Waist Full Coverage Swim bottoms.  They are reversible but I just used a lining fabric.  The fit is spot on!

Since I had the swim fabric out I made a swim skirt too!  I lengthened the skirt 2".  Perfect!

Then I had to sew up another swim top.  Just basic black.

Mix & Match

The Ellie & Mac swim collection is a great pattern.  Lots of possibilities to mix and match.
