Itch to Stitch Abstract Tustin Dress

I am just loving the Itch to Stitch Tustin Dress.  Such an easy sew and very classy!  Who could ask for more?

I used the Simplicity 8601 bell sleeves on this version and lengthened the skirt 2".

I had this black/white Abstract Grid Print ITY knit fabric from Fabric Mart Fabrics in my stash for a long time.  I think it was a great choice for this pattern!

A new TNT Dress!

I have a green solid, a burgundy polka dot and this black & white abstract print dress.  I think a floral version is much needed!

Itch to Stitch Burgandy Polka Dot Tustin Dress

I'm really loving this quick to sew dress that has a lot of class.  I had just enough of this burgundy & white polka dot Liverpool Double knit fabric to make another Itch to Stitch Tustin Dress.  I lengthened the skirt by 1" to keep it at my knees and made this version sleeveless.  I can't wait to wear it!

I have a few more versions in my mind.............we'll see what happens!

Mother of Groom Change of Wardrobe! Itch to Stitch Tustin Dress

There was a change of wardrobe!  I decided on the Thursday prior to Boy F's wedding that I wasn't a fan of the Mother of the Groom dress I had made.  Along came the Itch to Stitch Tustin Dress and I dared to whip it up right before the wedding.  The dress was a great choice and I loved how it turned out.  A little more classy and not so frumpy Cinderella.

I lengthened the skirt 5" so that it would hit below my knees.  I also didn't like the sleeves so I used the Simplicity 8601 bell sleeve.  Classic!

I wasn't sure where I wanted to wear the Rhinestone pin.  I guess I'll decide when I get dressed!

The Itch to Stitch Tustin Dress is an easy sew.  Just a few seams.....a quick sew with fantastic results!  I think I'm going to have to make a few more of these!

A Wedding Dress (Lots of Pictures)

Boy F and Girl K are MARRIED!  OMG! We are so excited!  We love Girl K and think that if she can put up with Boy F, WELCOME to the Family!

The Newest Mr & Mrs P!

Girl K asked if I would make her wedding dress............of course I would!

This is the inspiration photos she had.  She chose the fabric.  A mesh knit with variegated scattered pearls.  She is going to be a beautiful bride!

Girl K requested that the front v be higher for modesty and have a full coverage back.  I had to make a few muslins for fitting and designs prior to making the dress.  Using leftover/scrap fabrics for the muslins likely scared her.  The muslin dresses were UGLY!

Butterick 5282 was a choice for the bodice front because the two previous muslin versions wasn't working with the raised v in the front.

Muslin #3 is getting uglier!  But I'm trying to use fabric similar to the finished fabric that I found in my stash that I could use.

Then some fabric dilemma!  Lining fabric was a bit tricky to make the mesh knit overlay look great.  But Dear Hubby helped with decision making since I was over thinking.

So many shades of white knit!

Moving along finally, I sewed slow.  Really, really. slow.  Making sure I wasn't tired and thinking each step through.

Lady K's sleeve choice was a beautiful one.  Unlined, elastic wrist and full.

At first Lady K wasn't sure she wanted a train but I suggested at least a small one so she didn't feel like her dress was more prom like.  She was happy with the train choice!

Lady K came probably 6-8 times for try ons.  I think her smile says A LOT!

Ohhhh, the sleeves!

I did a tiny rolled hem on the skirt hem & train.  The last step.... I was nervous!

Train

Rolled hem finish

I made two different types of bustle for the train.  A two loop & button bustle at the base of the zipper but am unsure if the weight of the train will pull the dress backward on her.  The mesh pearl fabric is heavy!  I also added a finger loop at the tip of the train so she can hold it in her hand.  Her choice.

I am finished!

I am emotionally exhausted from being my own worst critic.  Lady K was a wonderful Bride.  Always thankful and not overly concerned about every minor detail.  Left it all up to me.  I've sewn 2 wedding dresses my whole life and all within the past 7 months.  I do not think this will be my new hobby!

I will post professional pictures as soon as we receive them.

Happy Sewing!
