Pattern Find

This weekend on our way home from Ikea, we stopped at a thrift store.  Thrift stores are my favorite type of stores.  Because I never know what I might find or what I need until I see it!  My favorite items are Sheets (any size, color, style), Patterns (the older the better), Sewing supplies, some clothes and fabric.  This trip I came away with only 4 patterns since they were $.50 each.  I like to find them cheaper.....  But vintage patterns are a weakness of mine along with sheets...... My husband thinks I am a borderline hoarder!  But I don't think you can have enough of them.

I found a McCall's 7806 & 3588, Simplicity 5914 & 7896 Pattern

I hope to be able to work on new window treatments for our living room tonight.  I ordered the fabric from Fabric Mart a few weeks ago and I can not wait to get going on this project.  Our window are an odd shape so I just make a long sway scarf type treatment on them.
I takes about 9yds of fabric to reach from floor to ceiling to floor.  When I ordered the fabric from Fabric Mart the first time I only ordered 2yds, then I reordered 5 more.  They were kind enough to call me to let me know they only had 3-3/4 yds left.  I think if I cut the fabric in half lengthwise then serge together I should have a piece that is 23"wide x 11.5yds.  I may have enough left over to make some matching pillow covers too!

Ikea Adventure

Resting at Ikea
Our trip to Ikea on Saturday was an adventure!  My family is not the shopping type and definitely not the furniture shopping type.  I must say that Ikea is now my FAVORITE store!  My daughter's room is coming together nicely, she now has a grown girl room.

After buying the shelving, desk, wall shelves, I now have a million more ideas.  Putting together the units were alot easier than I thought they would be.  They were so easy that my 9yr old and my 12 yr old put them together themselves.

Room almost finished

Well, I'm going to have to find a new room to redo.  I think her room came out great.  I will put a final finished photo once she gets all of her STUFF put up.

Have a great day, until next time....

How I came up with SEW PLUS....

I am an avid sewer.  I am also a plus size, but more than that, I sew PLUS alot more!  I love homesteading (raising my chickens), decorating, crafts, cooking, spending time with my family, camping, hunting, anything that saves money!  See, that's where I called it SEW PLUS....

On my agenda this weekend we (my husband, children, & I) are going shopping at IKEA for the first time for shelves, desk & a chair for my 9yr old daughter's bedroom.  She has the smallest room in our house. Only 9x14.  She does not have any storage in there and she is an avid collector or stuff.  Girl stuff & junk!  She has packed up all of her STUFF into 13 boxes.  (How can a 9yr old have that much stuff?)  We will be installing a wall of shelves, along with a window seat.   I am as excited as her because one day her room will be my sewing room!

I am in the process of taking some before pictures, I will have to learn how to post them too.  Please bear with me while I blindly make my way through this blogging adventure.

Until next time.....

Wish me luck!
