Wedding Dress

Girl M allowed me to make her wedding dress.  I have never a wedding dress before.  She was an easy bride and was easy going with only a few request.  All over lace, nude lining & deep v back. Easy peasy!

I had found knit lace at Fabric Mart Fabrics back in January and she loved it! The nude lining was a ITY knit from Fabric.com.

I hacked a few different patterns for the dress and bought a wedding gown pattern from EBay for the trane since I wasn’t sure if could wing that part.  Girl M requested a flutter sleeve since it was going to be so hot. Her dress was perfect on her & for the venue & the mood of her wedding (little boho).

I started with Love Notions Summer basics tank for the bodice, making it with a v front and a very deep v in the back.  I made a belt/waistband with elastic to help with the weight of the skirt & train. I used the Love Notions Willow Wrap flutter sleeve.

I used soft horsehair hem band on the skirt lining to help the skirt stand out and to keep it from wrapping around her ankles while walking. It worked out perfect.

Making a wedding dress was easier than I had thought.  Using knit fabric is very forgiving and having a bride that was so easy going made it even better.

Until next time….

  3. Just lovely! I started reading your blog in the days she wouldn’t try on shorts you’d made for her…it’s delightful you kept supporting her and made this fabulous dress of her dreams. Big win for both of you. Thank you for sharing.. all of it.
