Love Notions Rhapsody Blouse Tie Dye Challis

What do you wear with a pair of wearable muslin orange crop pants?  Whatever you want!

I thought that another Love Notions Rhapsody blouse in a sleeveless tank style version would be perfect.  I miss wearing orange and this top and pants combo fixed that!

Love Notions Rhapsody Blouse Tie Dye Challis
I believe this fabric is a challis puchased from FabricMartFabrics.com.  I seemed to have lost the fabric tag.....I think I made Girl M. a top out of this fabric, same pattern, longer sleeves.  I will have to go find it now that I'm thinking about it.  I think that after making it, she took it right away!

I eliminated the neck bias ties and scooped the v neckline a little more.  I used self bias binding for the armholes.  I'm really liking making bias binding right now.  It's kinda therapeutic.  Using/making what I have in my stash.

The fabric was great to work with.  It pressed great and doesn't wrinkle too bad.  It's light and has a nice hand to it too.

I printed and cut out the correct pattern piece for the bishop sleeve with elastic on this version.

Love Notion Rhapsody Green Stripe Seersucker Dress Hack

I am loving the Love Notion Rhapsody pattern so much I had to hack the top into a house dress.  No elastic waist but dress length.  I kept the curved hem, made it sleeveless and no ties.  It's the perfect dress to wear at home during the HOT summer months.

I made self bias binding for both the armholes and the neck.  This seersucker screams beach wear.

I prefer the cotton/poly seersucker because the fabric doesn't wrinkle.  Wash, dry, wear & go!

Fabric Tag $8.00 Dress
I wonder how many of these dresses is too many?

I'm off to sew something wonderful!

Love Notions Rhapsody Ivory Floral Burnout Dress

I've been sewing up pretty dresses with nowhere to wear them to!  I am hoping that Church services will resume soon to regular "indoor" services.  We've been having curbside style services and they've been ok but it's starting to get HOT here in Florida!  A girl with her own hot flashes needs AC!

I sewed up the Love Notions Rhapsody dress  in this poly/cotton floral burnout shirting fabric from FabricMartFabrics.com.  $1.99/yard.  I know it's very thin but I think if I make colored slips they will change up the dress for different occasions.  Maybe a pink, or yellow and a black under dress?

Ties

I thought I cut out the bishop sleeve pattern piece but oops!  They are elbow length so it's ok.

Love Notions Pattern Rhapsody Blouse V2 &V3

I told you there would be more Rhapsody Blouses coming!  I kinda wish I had somewhere to wear these tops to.  I'm loving theses blouses so much.

This is a regular short sleeve version, Size Large in a Rayon Challis from Fabric Mart Fabrics.

Love Notions Blue Abstract Print Rhapsody Blouse

Kinda has a hippie/summer vibe
I gathered the center back on this version instead of the inverted pleat.

$6.00 Top
I had a piece of this black floral print challis left over from another project.  Perfect strap buster from my fabric stash!

I did the inverted pleat in the back.

This print needed a flutter sleeve!

How many more of these do I need?

I'm off to sew another version

Love Notions Orange Print Rhapsody Blouse

Alternatives to buying from the Big 4 pattern companies right now I thought I would give PDF patterns a shot.  I've made a few in the past and they were alright but there is something about gazing at the pattern envelope that I like.

Love Notions Pattern had the Rhapsody Blouse on sale a few weeks back and I thought I would give it a shot.  Wow!  Best pattern EVER!

I made a muslin from this orange print fabric from my stash and Girl M claimed it right away!

Butterick 6567 The "SAD" Dress

I was inspired by Following the Thread  to sew up the Butterick 6567 Dress.  Curves, pockets, kimono style sleeves, what's not to love?

Line Drawing
Fabric suggestions were a pique.  Little did I realize it is different than pique knit.  Thanks Cheryl!  The pink pique knit was fine for a muslin though.  But I don't think it will be a wearable muslin.
I sewed up a size 18 and the dress ended up being quiet large on me.
Pique or Pique Knit?

Pink Pique Knit closeup
Nightgown? House dress? Around the pool dress?  Nope, donate pile!

Sad pink pique knit dress

Too big?
The pockets seemed way too low on my hips.

Pajamas?
I think the curved seams at the sides to the lower hip pockets make the dress look sad. I'm also not a fan of that center front pleat at my belly button.  Uggh!

Sad, Sad, Sad
I did some altering of the pattern with suggestions from my Mom.  Hi MOM!  I made a sway back adjustment and removed length from the waist, helping to bring the pockets up a little more.  Much better but still not a fan.

A little better but still not happy

Kinda reminds me of a maid suit from The Help.

Maid's uniform?

Uggh!

I added a little lace trim to the neckline and pearl buttons in hoping I would like the dress more.  Nope!  Now I look like Thelma Harper from Momma's Family.

On the brighter side I loved the sleeve and the sleeve band.  Very nicely done & I think I will use this technique on other tops.

Sleeve band, my favorite part
The curve and pockets on this dress is very similar to Girl M's scrub top pattern Simplicity 1020.  I preferred the Simplicity directions for the pockets and side panels.

Pocket

I did wear the dress one day but I just didn't care for it at all.  I've donated it to the thrift store in hopes that someone else would love it.

I know I can"t win them all but I can do better, I've put this pattern in the donate to a friend pile and I hope if she makes it up we'll still be friends!

PaperCut Pattern Palisades Shorts

I thought since Girl M liked the PaperCut Pattern Palisades pants that I should make her shorts.  Denim, simple & comfy.  She likes the black version better than the blue denim.  I think it's the topstitching but she said she'd wear them both.

If I had youthful legs like her I might wear shorts, but I'll stick with crop pants.
