I Love having a pattern that you can sew up quickly with scraps or small pieces of remnant fabrics leftover from past projects.

I knew that the Love Notions Juliet Top was a winner and a dress version was a hit too. I lengthened the top version 15.5" for a dress. I added the flutter sleeve to this version. I am in Love! This gives off a bit of a MUMU vibe but it's already getting hot & humid here in Florida so cool & comfy are a must!

Why did I wait so long to sew up the Love Notions Juliet Top? I made a quick muslin version from scraps and I LOVE this top! The fit is A+ and the pattern is easy to sew up.

I grabbed this top on a quick trip Dear Hubby & I took to Georgia camping last week. It was cool & comfortable.

I think I may have to make a dress version soon.

I had a blue and white stripe sheet in my stash that I had hoarded long enough! The tag said it was from Target. It has a little stretch to it and I knew the Simplicity 9140 would be a perfect pattern for it.
I sewed a straight size medium! I've never been a medium so be warned that this pattern is very loose fitting & generous in sizing.

I thought the Simplicity 9140 would be my next sew. Loose, casual & a quick sew. It did not disappoint! I started out with a size Medium at the shoulders & bust, Large waist and XL at the hips. The dress fit but was so frumpy & big. Girl M thought it was a dress I wore in my "larger" days! I did end up unpicking a lot of serger seams and taking in the dress to as close to size Medium.

I also shortened the skirt by 3". I measured my height this week and could not believe I am now 5' 4"! I even had Dear Hubby remeasure me.....still only 5' 4"! I have always been 5' 8"! Where did 4" go? Maybe now that I'm the big 5-0 I'm starting to shrink! I think of 5' 4" as Sophia on The Golden Girls! Oh my!

I found a cotton/lycra polka dot jersey knit fabric in my stash that has 50% stretch! I love polka dots and have been hoarding this fabric for a while. I lengthened the skirt 3" and used the angel sleeve for this version. I love this dress!

Reading the directions on fabric choice is very important. I wish I would have read it before making the Ellie & Mac Heart & Soul Twist Dress....... Live & Learn!
I made a muslin from ITY knit and did the needed adjustments. Then I chose to make a wearable version from a Crinkle double knit fabric from my stash. There was only 25% stretch with the double knit and the pattern clearly states 50% stretch! Oh my. I could wear it if I lost a few pounds.....

Butterick 6677 is a great pattern to sew. Easy, quick and fits straight out of the package (which is very rare!). I used a Rayon floral print crinkle challis from Fabric Mart Fabrics I had in my stash. The fabric was very thin and the crinkles made it a bit fussy to cut & sew. But overall it was good.
