Simplicity 7103 Pattern Hack

An idea came to me to make a dress that had a yoke on the top in the front and the back.  I used my Simplicity 7103 TNT princess shoulder seam pattern and worked it from there. I also added a band on the bottom.

I used two pieces of leftover fabric from my stash for this dress.

The lighting makes the fabric look like two different colors but they are the same.

Maybe I should have cut the back panel on the fold, but it worked out.

I noticed that the yokes didn't meet at the same place at the side seams, but if I don't raise my arms, no one will notice.

I'm very happy with the outcome of this dress.  I did make a few pattern adjustments for another version later on but I really need to clean out my closet AGAIN!

Simplicity 7103 Floral Ponte Knit Dress

I have altered the Simplicity 7103 pattern so much I'm not sure I should even call it by that number anymore.  But Princess shoulder seam sheath dress seems a little long.

I had to make a few alterations to the pattern once again since I've lost a few more pounds this past month.  Take in all seams 1/2", shortened the hem by 2" and raised the armhole 1/2".

A Surprise in the Mail

Words cannot express how thankful I am for the nicest people who read my Blog.  A few weeks ago a reader mentioned that they had looked for the McCall 6074 pattern (That's one of my TNT dress patterns) and were unable to find one since it's out of print.   Of course, I had three copies of the pattern and offered to send one to her.  I was more than happy to share the pattern with her.  It made a spot in my collection to buy another pattern!

Then I received a package in the mail on a day I needed cheered up the most!  Inside were two beautiful bars of luxury soap, the sweetest Thank you card and a donation to my fabric fund.  I was speechless.  I kept reading the card over and over in amazement at my reader's generosity.

 Sewing has been slow since my sewing mojo is on vacation mode.  Sparky the Fat Cat seems to know just how I feel!

I'm planning on a dress with the floral ponte knit fabric Fat Cat is sleeping on.  Maybe something TNT to get my sewing mojo working again.

McCall 6073 Floral Panel Dress

I just can't help myself!  I purchased this floral print panel from Fabric Mart Fabrics last month and it really needed to be sewn into the McCall 6073 dress.  I used a black ITY knit for the bodice and waistband and the floral panels for the skirt.  I love this dress!

Summer is here and it's HOT in Florida!  Today the thermometer read 104 degrees at 11:00AM!  The pool water is a soupy 92 degrees.  It's not even refreshing anymore.  We look forward to the afternoon thunderstorms to help cool things down a little but they have been sparse lately.  I don't want to see my electric bill this month!

I'm off to sew something.........maybe something new, maybe not!
