McCall 6073 Red Rose Border Print Dress

I am really liking the McCall 6073 wrap front dress pattern.  I thought that this panel fabric would make a nice design on the dress.  I shortened the dress as much as comfortable but it still left a small amount of the floral design on the top of the skirt.  Looks intentional?

The elastic at the shoulders gives the top a little dimension and interest.

I felt like I was putting together a puzzle when trying to make the panels work for the back of the dress.

I also made a pleat shoulder TNT McCall 6844 pattern hack cardigan.  The color matched the roses perfect.

I wore the dress to our oldest Son's swearing in ceremony.  I never did wear the cardigan because it's so hot here.  But it folded in my purse without wrinkles.

McCall 6074 Blue Floral Brushed Jersey Dress

Another quick sew, McCall 6074 dress with brushed floral jersey knit, sleeveless & midi length.   Girl M loved this fabric and wanted a dress in this print.  But of course she didn't tell me until after I made this dress for myself.  You snooze, you loose!

The only other photos I have of this dress is from our recent vacation to Arkansas.

She's Going To Kill Me.....Mother/Daughter Dresses

Another simple McCall 6074 TNT dress in brushed jersey knit fabric.  Sleeveless and midi length.  I like the feel of the fabric but I do hope it's not too hot for our humid summers.

I used a twin needle to finish the neckline, armholes and hem.  Girl M's very inexpensive Brother sewing machine does a great job with twin needle & this jersey fabric.  My regular machine kept wanting to eat the fabric at the throat plate.

I had just enough fabric left over to make Girl M a simple A-line TNT dress.  She does like the dress but made sure to tell me we were not wearing them at the same time.

Chevron Print ITY Knit Dress

I bet you thought I made Girl M. another wide-legged pants and tank did you?  Well I didn't!  I made her a dress!

Just a quick sew from her TNT A-line dress pattern, sleeveless and I added 3" to the length to use up all the fabric.

I know this teenage face doesn't look thrilled but she did like the dress and wore it the next day.  Someone at school commented that she never wears the same thing twice.  Makes me laugh because sometimes I think she wears the same things all the time.

She liked it!
I'm not sure what's next on the cutting table but I hope it's for me!

I've Created A Monster! Another Butterick 4807 Pants Simplicity 1355 Top

Girl M. LOVES these new top and pants I've been making her.  Every time she comes into the sewing room she spies another fabric she wants me to make into a set.  She's eating away at my fabric stash!  But this Mamma can't say no.

Sorry for the bra strap showing photos but I once I made the outfit, she snatched it up ans I have to ask her try it on real quick and snap whatever photos I can.   I can never seem to find the camera in the morning before she leaves for school.

I'm glad she likes the outfit and hope to sew for myself soon.  I'm really wanting to sew Dear Hubby a button up shirt...........but I always hesitate and put it off.  It's on the to-do list.

Floral Brushed Jersey Knit Maxi Dress

Girl M. has been blessed with many new pieces of clothing lately!  She asked for a maxi dress with a lower scoop back.  How low can you go and still be modest for Church?

This fabric just yelled to made into a maxi dress and the color looked great on her too.

I used her TNT A-Line tank dress, lengthened by 16", slimmed the skirt below the hips, made a 17" slip at the right side seam allowance, added a little short sleeve and scooped out the front and back neckline.

I added short sleeves to this version for her.

She wasn't home when I made this dress so I had to just guess on the depth of the scoop in the back.

She loved the dress and wore it to Church the upcoming Sunday.  She received many compliments on the dress and she said it was very comfortable.  She paired it that evening with a denim jacket (I didn't get a photo).

Simplicity 1355 Black ITY Knit Tank & Butterick 4807 Pants

Nothing spectacular but Girl M wanted a solid black pair of pants and matching halter top to mix and match with the pants and tops I've already made her.

I used the Butterick 4807 pattern for the pants and the Simplicity 1355 halter top.  I purchased Black polyester/lycra light weight knit Famous Dress Designer fabric from Fabric Mart for $4.00/yd.  The fabric was very thin and had a slight crepe texture.  I didn't like the feel but Girl M said it was fine.  The fabric was easy to sew up and I made the set in an afternoon.

McCall 6073 Memorial Day Dress

When I get a pattern to fit my lumps, bumps & curves I have have the urge to make the dress over and over.  I made this version for Memorial Day (I know I'm a little late posting but life gets in the way!)

I made the McCall 6073 in the maxi version, sleeveless and I LOVE this dress.  It flows nicely when I walk and makes me look tall!  I need all the help I can get there!

Simplicity 1355 Blue Knit Halter Top & Boy T.

I sewed Girl M another knit halter top from the Simplicity 1355 pattern.  This version I lengthened the top by 7", used a 1/2" bottom hem and eliminated the v cutouts and cutting out on the fold (no center front & back seams).

Simplicity 1355 Hack

The top turned out great and the fabric was a piece of leftover fabric from my stash.  I think this will be a great basic to wear with her wide leg pants or with shorts.

Not Sewing Related:  But Proud Life Moment!

Today is my oldest baby's 26th Birthday.  He was recently swore in as a Deputy Sheriff.  Dear Hubby got to pin his badge on him.  It was a proud moment.

You're Not Going to Believe This!

I MADE PANTS!!!

While out shopping Belk was having a great clothing clearance sale.  I found a pair of wide leg ITY type knit tribal print pants that Girl M. had her eye on.  I hate buying her clothes when she's not with me but for the sale price of $6.49 I thought I would take my chance.  I wasn't sure what size to get her so I tried on a pair of Large and they fit me so I knew they would fit her.  I would NEVER in a million years be caught outside of the dressing room in those pants!  But I was even more amazed that I fit into a Large pant!

She loved the pants and asked if I could just trace them and make her another pair.  I had a better idea since I've been working on knit shorts pattern for over a month for her.

I dug through my stash of knit pants pattern and found Butterick 4708.  Measuring her pants I lengthened the pattern leg and widened the circumference of the pants to match her pair.

After making her a trial pair she loved I made her a second pair she loved even more!

Then I suggest to her if we made a matching tank style top she could wear them together and it would look like a jumpsuit.  She didn't say anything at first then at dinner she told her Dad what a great idea I had!  Back to the sewing room to make a matching tank.  I used the top portion of the Simplicity 1355 jumpsuit.  Lengthening the bodice by 5".  She loved the top too!

I'm still in shock that this Mamma made pants but even more shocked she loved them!
