McCall 7952 Sundress

Do NOT take Girl M. to Hobby Lobby!  First, she found a dress pattern she loved then she picked out fabric she wanted the dress made up in.  So $28.00 later we headed home so I could start on a muslin.

Where in the world is she going to wear this dress to?  It's not bra friendly or Church appropriate.  But how could this Momma say no?

 She liked View B:

The pattern sewed together easily and the pattern pieces matched up perfect.  Girl M was a size 18 bodice/20 waist and skirt.

The dress didn't fit on my dressform very well but good enough for pictures.  I used a white floral cotton fabric I had in my stash for her muslin.  Girl M. ended up liking the dress and fabric enough she wants me to finish it and wear it.  Wearable muslin?

Girl M. LOVED the pockets!

The only alterations needed were to shorten the bust dart by 1", make a 1/2" dart in the top band pattern piece to make the dress lay closer to the chest and I lined the bodice & skirt.  Easy fix.

McCall 7193 Red Floral Woven Long Sleeve Top

I have to give this pattern an A+!  I've made both View A and B and I really like them both.  You can dress the top up with a nicer fabric or make it more casual with a cotton or linen fabric.  Make sure you use something that is soft and drapes well.

Girl M. and I have fought over this red poly floral fabric every time I laid it out to use for something.  I won because she was at school when I cut the fabric for this pattern!  But I did have about 1-1/4 yards left over to make her a top!

This top may be my most favorite woven top so far.  Classy & comfortable all in one!  The skirt is from my Sure-Fit Designs.  A classy, slim, straight knee-length skirt from a beige suiting fabric.

TNT Princess Seam Strawberry Pink Ponte Knit Dress

Nothing too exciting, I needed something to wear with this floral ponte knit Isaac Mizarahi jacket I purchased last year that is almost too big for me now.  I found this pretty Strawberry pink ponte knit in my stash for a TNT princess seam dress to wear with it.

I purchased the ponte fabric from Fabric Mart Fabrics a few years back.  The dress total was $8.00!

Butterick 6378 Black Georgette Bow Top

I had to make another view of the Butterick 6378.  This time I made View B with black 100% poly Georgette  fabric I purchased from Fabric Mart Fabrics.

Since the fabric is thin, I sewed the side seams & sleeve seams with a French seam.  The top is very professional looking both inside and out.  I've very pleased with myself!

I don't think I need another top from this pattern but I really liked both versions.

Butterick 6378 Blue Floral Woven Top

Since I'm on a roll with woven fabrics I picked another woven pattern to sew up.  But the hard part is what view to sew first!

I chose View A to start with.  I used 3 yards of this super soft blue woven I've had in my stash forever.  This ended up being a wearable muslin and I really like this top.

I may have to make another view of this top, it's a quick sew and very flatter figuring.

Simplicity 8172 Pink Paisley Duster

I lengthened the Simplicity 8172 View A 21" to knee length.  I used 1/2" bias tape to finish the duster and curved the bottom front hem and eliminated the fringe.  Girl M. loves the duster/topper.  I think it looks like a bathrobe, but I'm not wearing it.

I think I'm going to look for another woven top pattern to try.

Simplicity 8172 Blue Animal Print Topper

I made another Simplicity 8172 topper in a blue animal print for myself but I think Girl M and I will be sharing it.

I think I'm going to have to make Girl M. another version so I'll get to keep this one!

Simplicity 8172 Patchwork Topper

Girl M has been liking the toppers I've made and she picked out fabric for another one.  This polyester woven patchwork fabric was a good choice.

McCall 7193 Black Floral Challis Top

Girl M. is getting lucky with this McCall 7193 pattern.  She picked a black floral challis fabric for another version.  She's one lucky gal!
