I Think I Need Help!

I am the absolute worst picture taker!

I don't care to have my picture taken.  On occasion I will & I always have the most horrible look on my face, double chins, dazed and confused look, no smile, etc.!
Selfie while on vacation last week
Once in a while, I'll break down and take a picture of me in a me made outfit.  But I would prefer to crop off my head.  My expressions look like I'm constipated!  That is why most of my post have a photo of my me made outfit, dress, etc., on my dear dress form.

On our little vacation to the beach the kids kept laughing at Dear Hubby and myself when we would take a selfie.  We are not selfie people so the kids had to give us a few tips.
  1. Camera high
  2. Arm outstretched
  3. Chin out
  4. Smile
  5. Click
We still didn't do a good job!
Selfie at the beach
Maybe I should fix my hair once in a while!

This selfie is even worse!
Then, I receive an email from our oldest son.  It's a photo of his swearing in ceremony.  They took a family picture for us.  Nope!  Not a good picture of me either!

If you have any advice or tips on taking photos, please help me!
One last selfie before a wedding
This one isn't soo bad, at least my hair is fixed!

Until next time.......

  1. You look just fine :-) I think, just like myself, you are not use to seeing yourself in pics.

  2. I agree with Sheseams! I have also struggled with picture taking, especially since I have been posting on Pattern Review. I googled "how to take pictures" and found some useful tips. One source is www.kristendukephotography.com. Love your jacket by the way. I made a maxi dress from the same fabric! Karen

  3. Thank you for your kind comments. I would love to see your maxi dress. I plan on spending some time reading up on the website you suggested, maybe I'll learn a thing or too!

    1. Bonnie, you can see my dress on Patern Review under the member name of krafts. I believe that I posted it on 7/27/15. Thanks!

    2. I love your use of the Cheetah fabric for a maxi dress! We have good taste in fabric! The dress is lovely, I hope to see more of your sewing.

  4. You're right, we are our own worst critics! I think you look fine! I know what you mean about taking selfies though. I can never get a good selfie so I use a remote control with my camera on tripod when I have to take pictures for pattern review and you won't believe how many shots I have to take before I get a good one! And when I can't get a good one, I just crop off the head. Anyway, one thing I learned when posing is to stand so that the body is sideways and the face is front so the neck is a bit tilted, it eliminates the unwanted double chin.

  5. Picture taking is hard. .. seriously, I have several taken & then there is the process of elimination of droppy eyes, lopsided smiles, clothes askew, my short hairs out of place. Now when I have my pictures taken I tell them..... please... please make sure nothing is out of place or askew & then count to 3... ready click....lol
