McCall 7193 Black White Geometric Print ITY Knit Top

Can you really have too many of the McCall 7193 tops?  I had 1-1/4 yards of this black and white ITY knit in my stash. It looks like it was a free bundle item from Fabric Mart Fabrics and there was enough for sleeves too.

I made a pair of black ITY knit wide-legged pants to start a mini-wardrobe for an upcoming trip to Miami with Dear Hubby for a conference.  I'm trying to pack as little as possible with pieces that will mix and match.

I'm loving this top and think I may have to work on a Winter/Cooler weather version.

Grainline Studio Morris Blazer

I'm not a fan of PDF pattern but I liked this pattern enough to tough it out.  My attention span is so short somedays that it took me two days on this super easy pattern.   The directions are well written and the pattern notches match up.  I did lengthened the pattern by 2" as per previous reviewers suggested.  I also had to shortened the shoulder length by 1".

I used a black ponte knit fabric.  My machine didn't give me a fit this time and the jacket sewed up easily.

I cut the fabric on the fold, eliminating the center back seam.  I may need to re-consider next time to to a sway back adjustment.

McCall 7561 Floral Double Brushed Jersey Knit Dress

Just another McCall 7561 Dress for Church.  I raised the neckline on this version but still it's wide on me.  Maybe next time I'll get it perfect.

I wanted elbow length sleeves with a cuff and midi length.  Yes, this time I followed the directions and the dress went together so much easier!

I wanted a cardigan to wear at Church and thought something like this pleated shoulder version but it's a little too boxy/flowy.

This mauve pink brushed ITY knit matched perfect.  Then I had an idea of some type of waterfall cardigan.

Fabric choice

I took my TNT cardigan pattern and added a large rectangle onto the front pattern piece.  Easy sew and the cardigan feels sooooo good!  I hope it doesn't look too much like pajamas.

Girl M.Faux Suede A-line Dress & Simplicity 1499 Coral Quilted Vest

Girl M. wanted a brown dress.  I only had two pieces of solid brown, one ITY knit (2 yards) and a faux suede knit (3 yards).  She picked the faux suede and wanted her TNT A-line Dress.  Easy sew and I had it made it in an afternoon.

I like to set my laptop behind my sewing machine on top of my boxes of presser feet & needles but of course as soon as I have it set up I need the bottom box.  So I ordered a shelf from Amazon and now everything has it's place.

Vintage Simplicity 7583 Denim Dress

I had a denim dress in mind.  Something with a kimono (easy) sleeve, belted, knee length.  I knew I had a pattern in my stash.  Finally, I found a vintage (1976) Simplicity 7583 that was perfect.

I made a muslin in the 18-1/2 size and realized the 16-1/2 will be perfect.  I had to do minor fitting with this pattern, ei (sway back adjustments & shoulder adjustment).  Working with a vintage pattern was lovely!

I was nervous about all the topstitching but I used Girl M's cheap Brother sewing machine on a long stitch and the stitching was beautiful!

Simplicity 1499 Teal Double Knit Quilted Vest

I saw this pattern on a Facebook group and I had to have it.  It's an easy sew but I was nervous about the separating zipper.   I did make a muslin from a ponte knit in a size 18 and it was too big.  I ended up using a size 16 in the bust and waist and a 22 in the hips.  The fit is A+ and I really want the weather to get cooler!

The double fold bias tape was very easy to apply.  But the separating zipper was the easiest part!  So simple with the look of being way harder than it was.

I bought the fabric from Fabric Mart Fabrics earlier in the Month (oops!)  But it's pre-quilted and sewed up beautifully.

Girl M threatened to steal the vest so I just happened to go back over to Fabric Mart Fabrics and they had the coral on sale.  So there will be another version (a little smaller in the hips though) coming soon.

Yellow Ponte Knit Long Skirt & McCall 3033 Organza Capelette

I used my TNT Sure-Fit Designs slim skirt pattern, lengthening the skirt to 31" and adding a back walking vent.  I had to re-size my pattern and remove 8" from the hips!  OH MY!

I purchased the Medallion Yellow Rayon/Nylon/Lycra Ponte Knit fabric from Fabric Mart Fabric some time last year.  My sewing machine did not like sewing this knit.  I tried Girl M's cheap sewing machine and it didn't like the fabric either.  I changed needles, I changed thread, and tension settings and I ended up using my industrial sewing machine. 

I was able to use a microtex needle in my sewing machine to do a blind hem.  I worked well enough but I wasn't sure it was going to work.

For the top I used the McCall 3033 capeletet and hacked the pattern a little.  The organza fabric I had in my stash forever.  I shortened the back and lowered the front.  I used a mirotex needle for the double fold rolled hem and a little starch to stiffen the fabric.  The top turned out great.
