Just an Update & Bathroom Remodel Photos

Dear Hubby is doing well since he broke his leg.  He is finally off the walker and the crutches and is walking around.  He has a limp and his foot and leg swell every day.  We have follow up appointment on Tuesday, November 29th for a leg x-ray to see how it has healed.  He still complains that his foot and ankle hurt all the time.  Never in the same places but something is still not right with the tendons.  I know he's bored at the house with me all day.  I just try to do my usual routine and I feel that I just run circles around him.  He did mention that he didn't know why I'm not a size 0 all the stuff I do all day......That would be nice, but I'm not a 0, and I never will be.

The week before Hubby broke is leg, I started a bathroom remodel project.  It took much longer than what I expected.  7 weeks total and I still have a few minor things I need to get done.  But we are hunting in Georgia this week so maybe next week I will get them finished.  I am so happy to be close to done.  We are getting to use the bathroom again and the shower chair is gone and so is ALL the country decor.

Here's a preview of the before:

I am not a professional by any means but I must say I think the ending is beautiful.  I love the calming, elegant look of the finished bathroom.  Dear Hubby says it's a "Grown-up" bathroom and dear daughter says it looks like a bathroom from a hotel.

I'm just glad I'm almost done.  We added it up and I spent less than $300 to redo the bathroom.  Pretty thrifty!

I hope to get to some sewing soon.  I need a cold weather nightgown and maybe even a robe would be nice too.

I'm still working on minimizing my house.  It feels so good to have empty cabinet space, a place for everything and making use of minimal stuff.

My next project will be working on redecorating/painting the dining room.  I hope it won't take as long as the Master Bathroom but you never know..........

Until next time.............

  1. So glad to hear the hubs is doing better. When I broke my ankle (years ago) they said the torn ligaments and tendons were worse than the break. The bone mends quicker for some reason. Hope he is completely better soon.

Love your bathroom remodel. I love doing that kind of stuff too. Then I burn out on it for a while. My DH says all of our rooms are at least an inch smaller than when we bought the house because of all the layers of paint over the years. Did you replace your counter tops yourself? I have painted mine before, but have not replaced them yet.

I plan on redoing the master bedroom after Christmas. I have almost finished my sewing room, that will also have to wait till after Christmas now.

I did the minimizing thing many years ago. Got rid of a lot of stuff. Did it again 3 months and 6 months later. Like peeling back the layers of an onion. It feels so good. My top kitchen cabinets still remain empty to this day. And its amazing what you will get rid of after 6 months that you couldn't let go of the first time around.

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.

  2. I am glad to hear your husband is continuing to heal, the swelling will hang around for a while, I was surprised at how long I had swelling, especially in my foot, made it a challenge to find shoes that fit. Your bathroom is beautiful! You did a great job picking the colors, quite a change, isn't it? Always decluttering here too, it is a good feeling to bless others with what we don't need. I was working on McCalls 6844, inspired by your makes of it, but put it aside because I needed to narrow the shoulders and had other more pressing sewing, I need to get back to it!

    1. Thank you for the encouragement and kind comments. Hubby is progressing slowly. At the 7 week check up we thought he might be released to go back to work but now they think he may have a fracture or torn ligament on top of his foot, waiting for MRI and another consult.....Sewing has halted here. I would love to see your McCall 6844 version. I wear many of mine and hope to get back to sewing soon. Thank you for stopping by my blog.

  3. Not much sewing for me going on here, Christmas sewing is the priority right now. Soon I hope! Praying for patience for your husband, it is tough I know.

  4. Such a blessing for your husband speedy recovery!

Your bathroom looks wonderful. I too am working on having extra space. It's good to know I'm never along. Do you have any tips to share? Thanks👣

  5. Wow, what a great job! It's amazing what adding trim can do, right? Also, that bathroom, I love how everything is the same in that first picture and just some paint and a new counter took it from disjointed decor to "hotel" chic.

  6. I'm glad your hubby's leg had recovered nicely. The country decor would have looked brilliant in another room, not the bathroom. The navy wall was far too dark, but the gingham curtains were very cute. Do tell how you remodeled the bathroom on a just $300 budget? I love the finished look, and the chic design brightens the room up tenfold.

    1. Thank you for your kind comments. I LOVE my bathroom. It's so refreshing and cleaner looking. Paint was my biggest cost but I did use it in other places in the house too. The knobs were on sale at Lowe's for $1.39 each and faucets were only $29 each, acrylic craft paint for the counter tops was on sale for $.99 a bottle I think. The polyacrylic coat was $15 for a quart, I have plenty left over too. A little wood for the new backsplash was pretty cheap too. The mirrors were only $15 each at Family Dollar Store! Nothing too fancy but LOTS of hard work. I love it.
