Love Notions Tempo Sundress

I am in LOVE with making the Love Notions Tempo Sundress.  Summer temperatures and the humidity here in Florida make this dress perfect for wearing the next 6 months!

Love Notions Tempo Dress

My first version turned out great except it didn't fit me!  But it fit Girl M. perfect!  So she ended up with a new dress.

How many is too many?  I made two Tempo sundresses for myself.  The first from a black & white check cotton shirting and the second from a tropical rainforest print challis fabric.  Easy sew and very fun.

Two Tempos for me!

The shirring on the back panel is so much fun to sew up.  I added a ruffle on the bottom of the rainforest print one.  I am thinking a maxi or midi length version will be in the works soon!

So glad to be able to sew a little bit more now.

Girl M Graduates!

Girl M finally graduated LPN school!  That was a long 10 months!  We are so proud of her!

Now to sewing!  Here is her inspiration Retro style nurse's dress she wanted.

Inspiration Dress
I had to Frankenpattern the dress pattern.  The main pattern I used was the New Look 6180.  I added a wide waistband, made a 3/4 circle skirt, wide waist ties to make a back bow and added inseam pockets!  Girl M Loved it!

She was all smiles when she tried on the dress!

Try on-dress approved!

Girl M would not spend $80 on her graduation dress so Mom dress to the rescue!  $14.97 cotton sheet from Wal-Mart was perfect for the fabric choice.

Updates from May

Well, May started out with a tear in our pool liner!  It's been 9 years and the eventually finally happened.

Tear in pool liner

Dear Hubby spent days repacking the bottom and coping along the sides in the Florida heat & humidity.  He was only able to work a few hours every morning.

Liner prep

We finally were able to schedule a weekend when all the kids were able to help install the new liner.  It was hot!

Liner filling with water

It took almost a week to fill the pool.  30,000 gallons is a lot of water from a water hose!

Filling pool

Glad to have to pool ready for Summer.  Since there will be no traveling this year because of gas prices and taking care of my Aunt.  The pool makes a great escape, even if we have to dodge rain storms!

Pool is ready for Summer!

We had a hen hatch a baby chick!  The downside is that she sat on 12 eggs and only one hatched.

I did sew the Love Notions Lyric Dress.  Nothing exciting, blue chambray with lots of buttons.  Cool. comfortable dressing for Florida's heat.

Boy F. bought a house!  Dear Hubby and I have been helping with painting and putting in new flooring.  So happy to have him closer to us (only 15 minutes away!) We'll see what he thinks about that!  LOL!

Boy T. has a Birthday today, 29!! Oh my!  He has been promoted at work to Detective in the Drug unit.  So proud of him!

Dear Hubby & I have just been taking life one day at a time with my Aunt.  We're trying to learn to live together and how best to help her.  She is in the mid stages of Dementia.  It's uncharted area for us so we are learning along the way.

My sidekick!

Girl M. is graduating LPN Nursing school next week and wanted a "MOM" made graduation dress.  Really, she was not wanting to pay $80 for a dress!  So I've been working on her vision dress.  Retro style Nurse dress patterns are not easy to find so I had to be creative and Frankenpattern a few patterns together.

I
do hope to get to more sewing in the month of June but life always gets in the way.

Until next time..................
