McCall 6074 French Rose ITY Knit Dress

I wanted a pink dress to wear with a few cardigans I had.  Of course nothing is easier than my TNT McCall 6074 dress pattern.

Simplicity 8981 Shamrock Green Georgette Dress

The Simplicity 8981 is a new pattern that I could only find one review for.  It seemed like an easy, quick sew without much fuss or fitting.  I cut a size 18 and added 2" at the hip seam allowances.  I didn't bother with the pockets being afraid that pockets would emphasize my hips.

I wasn't a fan of the shape of the dress.  It looked like a big sack. I wasn't sure I wanted to even finish it, thinking I would just donate it.....but I since I had the belt already cut out I might as well finish it.

I tried it on again.  Well,  it's growing on me......Maybe it isn't as bad as I first thought.

I thought Girl M. will love this color but I'm not sure about the fit and style

Not looking too bad

I really don't think I needed the added ease in the hips.

Sack with a belt?
The dress looks way better on the dress form!

The longer I wear the dress the more I'm liking it!  I tried it on with an Isaac Mizrahi sweater I had.  I'm really liking it!

Girl M came home from school and LOVED the dress!  She wouldn't let me get her messy hair in the photos but she at least let me take pictures.

Girl M. dressed it up
She's worn the dress three times already!  I have it in my plans to wear it in March IF she'll let me borrow it.

Butterick 6708 Wine Scuba Knit Dress

I've been working on sewing new patterns.  Fitting has been a little easier.  It's nice to take in, again and again, but sometimes it's tiring since I still see myself as "fluffy".  I still have a few fitting issues that I've always had, such as sway back and sometimes round back.  But not having to worry about sleeve circumference is wonderful!

Butterick 6708

For a muslin I dug through my leftover knit box and found two pieces of ponte knit.  I'm not a fan of these colors together.  I'm not sure this will be a wearable muslin.

These people I live with like a hot cooked meal at night..........See what happens when I use the oven!  I burned my wrist.  Geeesh!  The things I do for them! I just hope it doesn't leave a scar.

Oven Burn
I sewed a sized 18 and I definitely need to take it in.  Also the bust dart is a little high for my mature bust.

The back isn't too bad, but the sleeves need to be taken in

After taking off the sleeves and taking in the side seams an additional 7/8" the fit is getting better.

Fitting a little better

I can't lower the bust dart on this version but the side doesn't have many wrinkles.

From these pictures it looks like I may have a high hip on the right side??? Or maybe I can't stand still for the picture?

I sewed the final version in a wine colored scuba knit fabric.  The fit is much better and moving the bust dart lower 1" was perfect.

I had planned on wearing the dress alone but abdominal bloating won this morning.  My Issac Mizrahi cape jacket was a nice camouflage cover up for belly issues.

I'm off to sew something great!

Simplicity 9750

I though a vintage pattern would be a nice change for my newest sew.

I like the neckline and the waistline of this dress.  This pattern calls for woven fabrics but I may try it in a knit too.

Sorry for the headless photos but I did not fix my hair prior to taking photos.  I made a sway back adjustment prior to sewing up the muslin.  The front was a little low for my modesty but was and easy fix.  I also removed 5-1/2" from the skirt length.

I used a white and pink floral cotton fabric for this muslin.  Girl M. said it looks like pajamas.  But it's a wearable muslin around the house.

Butterick 6479 Floral Print Liverpool Knit Dress

Butterick 6479

This is a super easy, quick pattern to sew up.  The only pattern changes I made were to lengthen the cape by 2" and a sway back adjustment.  I did have to remove 7/8" from the sideseams after trying the dress on.

I'm still trying to figure out good pose/lighting/camera angles with my camera, please be patient because I am no professional.

Butterick 6479 Floral Print Liverpool Knit Dress

This Liverpool knit has a texture and plenty of stretch.  It was easy to sew with and I am thinking I may need a few more of these dresses.
